You'll probably have heard by now that Bobby Fischer has passed away in Iceland.
I feel gutted.
He was my chess hero when I was growing up. For me he was, and always will be, The Greatest.
I could never stomach the views and beliefs he espoused in later life, but, as with many creative geniuses, you have to separate the artist from the sometimes not-very-nice person.
RIP. |

Bobby Fischer was probably the first big chess payer that I was aware of growing up and his match against Spassky certainly sparked my interest in the game.
Sad to hear of his demise. _________________ Robert |
