Sarah was playing in this event at Uddingston today.
She finished in third place with 5 points from 7 rounds.
There were two joint winners (no second place) on 6/7.
Sarah played one of the winners and missed out on a free Queen two moves before being mated!
If she had taken the Queen for Rook she could not then have been mated.
Ah well we live and learn.
Strange thing is that I had not been watching her games all day and the very moment that I decided to walk over and see how she was doing was the moment that she missed the available Queen.
I'm not making excuses for her but perhaps I distracted her at the worst possible moment.
