I know that I,m not in a position to talk about draws.
But what's with all the giveaway draws?
It must be that Christmas Spirit everyone keeps talking about! |

Ian i wouldn't mind seeing your final position/moves - if you don't mind- not sure about the protocol of posting while a game is in adjudication |

Hi Robert,
You must have ESP Yep, that's the position, with Black to play. (Folks - please note that the board here has Black at the bottom!) Time left - White (me) 2:00 mins, Black 0:30 secs.
I don't know about the protocol of discussing a position that has gone for adjudication, but Dvoretsky observes that "with a knight pawn, winning positions occur very often". The classic example of the winning method is Botvinnik-Minev, Amsterdam Olympiad 1954. Another tremendous example is Nakamura-Arakhamia Grant at Gibraltar earlier this year, where the American super-GM (2651!) didn't know the best defensive try and Keti won nicely. |

Ian I reckon that this is a clear win as the black king is so far from your advance. White can pop the Queens of and get another Quickly.
It's very very like my win against Bernard Cassidy in this years Scottish Championships. Which attracted quite a crowd of spectators as I recall.
I had just sacked a bishop in order to get to more or less this position and I think poor old Bernard thought that he could hold it like M.O.
I took a lot of satisfaction winning that one what with the audience and the fact that Bernard is pretty solid generally (at my level). |

| Hamilton have decided not to go to adjudication and so Ian's game will go down as a win for us making the final score 6-2. |

Tough game, all credit to Matthew. I spent a-g-e-s looking at the position. The closest to my game I could find is Barlov-Soltis, New York Open 1988, good practical play from both sides but still 1-0 in 109 [!]. Well worth a look (start about move 62). |
