Hi folks,

Now that the fixtures are up, I'll suggest some free nights for a coaching session or two. Last season was pretty much suck-it-and-see; I thought this time I'd give it a bit more structure - start off with some tactics (always important!), maybe look at some endings stuff (ditto) then a game or two, then we could finish off with some quick opening stuff or any questions. How does that sound? Suggested dates shortly.

Ian,

That sounds great can we do this on a Monday perhaps?

I was thinking of Mondays, Robert. Wednesdays might be CL night!

SUGGESTED DATES

Had a trawl through the fixtures list and the following Mondays seem free (apologies if I've missed anything):

22 Oct.
12 Nov.
17 Dec.

I'd be happy to do a session on each of those evenings. The good news is that with matches on the other Mondays, that would give us a full Monday programme up till Christmas. That is also the bad news - there'd be no free Mondays for anyone who wanted to "just play" without anything else being on. On balance, thinking of all the talk about nobody turning up on Mondays, I'd go for it. Whaddya think? Yes? No? Look at Wednesdays intead?

I was going to maybe try a lightning/quick play event on the 17th Dec.
I'd added it to the calendar, don't rely on the fixtures page!

Ian,

That sounds good, I for one would hope to take part, I need all the help I can get.

Unfortunately as Ronnie points out there was a mistake in the fixtures list as the phones game is on the Monday 22 Oct and I assume that you will be plaing there?

Ronnie has plenty of time to find out whether or not people want to have a quickplay event or not, so depending on the response to his idea you can still perhaps do two sessions.

Robert

OK, I've had another look through the calendar and fixtures; as far as I can see the only free Monday 'twixt now and Christmas is 12 Nov., so can we pencil that in as a coaching night?

Which leaves Wednesdays. Rangers or Celtic are involved in CL fixtures (I can do without the competition Very Happy ) on the Wednesday nights 24 Oct., 7 & 28 Nov., 12 Dec. So how about 17 Oct. and 5 Dec. to give us three sessions, one a month, before Christmas?

Summary of suggested dates:
Wed. 17 Oct.
Mon. 12 Nov.
Wed. 5 Dec.
Yea? Nay?

Hi folks,

While I'm at the keyboard a wee reminder about Wednesday. We'll start off with a quick recap of some previous stuff (to see if you were paying attention Very Happy ), then have a look at some tactics, then a couple of games illustrating various points, then a Q&A session (if there are any Qs). Sometime during the evening I'll also want to talk about attitude at the board. And I'll be getting you to think. (You don't expect me to do all the work, do you!?)
See you then, the more, the merrier. 7.00 k.o. or a.s.a.p. thereafter.

Many thanks to Robert for putting the game we looked at the other week in the games section on the website. Have a look at it at your leisure. There are things to be learnt from it.
