Well done so far George. I am sure that David Cubitt can feel you breathing down his neck.

George came third equal in the under 1500 which looks about on par for the gradings. Are you happy with that George?
Last I saw Ian was 3 from 7 which I suspect he might have hoped for more although I am not sure about peoples gradings so perhaps a better performance than anticipated?
Either way well done to both for keeping the Cumbernauld Flag Flying in such a major event. Hope you both enjoyed the experience.

Hi Robert. I should be happy finishing in third place. Although I should have done better I made a couple of positional blunders in my last two game which cost me second place.
Looking back on my game against the winner David Cubitt I noticed a clear win if I had moved my bishop to G5 instead of D7 (I would have won a knight) even after missing this opportunity I also missed a drawing move right at the end. So I really should have done better although third is better than last.
Congratulations to Ian for another solid performance and picking up another 11 FIDE rating points.
I really enjoyed being involved although it was very exhausting.
I would come home knackered then have an early night in order to prepare for the next day only to find myself unable to sleep for four hours due to excitement and an over active brain. |
