Many thanks to all who took part in the simul and helped make the three hours speed past. For those who weren't there (where were you!? ) Steve won eight games, but was held to a draw by Gary, Robert, David J and Paul, and lost to David B. David J won the prize for the player whose performance made the biggest impression on Steve. (If I may, I'd just like to mention Sarah and Lisa who put in performances way beyond their relative inexperience - well done!) All in all, a great night. Let's do it again next year. |

Three cheers for Ian Marks for organizing last nights fun. It was an excellent experience playing against Steve Mannion. Also a BIG THANK YOU to Steve Mannion for taking the time to come to Cumbernauld especially after his five game weekend at Marymass (In which he shared first prize) which must have been pretty exhausting. Excellent idea Ian and I would certainly welcome another at another time. One thing that I did notice about last night was that everyone was smiling and enjoyed the challenge. Congratulations to David Bonella for winning and to David Johnstone for his best game award. Well done you guys who drew.
I lost but still enjoyed my game. I did not even see the final nail in my coffin coming it was so subtle. I knew that I was under a bit of pressure but did not even see the knockout blow. Well at least I can say that I managed to Check him on one occassion. Anyway enough rambling, Thanks again Ian for providing a memorable evening. To think that Steve managed to play so many game in the time we normally take for one is amazing. |

I would like to back up George's comments and thank Ian and Steve for a most enjoyable night I was surprised how long I lasted and how quickly the evening went. A great start to the season so lets hope we can build on it. _________________ Robert |

I felt a rush like a rolling bolt of thunder
Spinnin' my head around and taking my body under.
Oh, what a night!
(Do, do, do, do, do. Do, do, do, do, do, do.)
Oh, what a night!
(Do, do, do, do, do. Do, do, do, do, do, do.)
