According to the Janny at Muirfield. the chess club is still booked in for the next two Monday nights, 22nd I think that is.
Last night only Kelechi Myself and Andrew were there.
Is anybody intending going for the next two weeks???
I shall hopefully be there.
Ps Any word on a new date for the AGM??, we could use any of these two Mondays.

George,

I was under the impression that we were finished on Monday nights at the end of May and confirmed that with the office today when I was booking next Wednesday for the AGM so it won't be available the 15 or 22 June.

Will this be amended if discussion at the AGM shows support for summer opening? There seems to be a feeling that the summer months could be used for playing rated club games, allowing unrated or lower-rated players who do not feature regularly in league matches to get experience of competitive play and improve (or get) a rating. Sounds a worthwhile idea to me.

That's not up to me, if the club want to operate during the summer then I guess we put in a let request and see if it's available. As per the previous discussion however if we book and don't turn up it will cost us much more likely over July and August. I always get a bit worried on this since its my name on the booking so I am personally responsible for any charges.

Surely not!? Surely it should come out of club funds?

It should come out of club funds but the booking conditions state that it is the person who makes the booking who is responsible for any charges. Not to worry as I am sure we would pay any charges from club funds, I hope.
