We lost last nights Lanarkshire Div One match against Lanark.
Here are the results.
B Jim Smalls 1748~~~~~~~~~~~1-0~~~Ian Marks 1919
W Ian McLachlan 1712~~~~~~~0.5-0.5~~David Ross 1731
B Ian Brownlee 1651~~~~~~~~~0-1~~David Johnstone 1622
W Tom Brown 1649~~~~~~~~~~1-0~~George Thomson 1397
Lanark 2.5~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Cumbernauld 1.5
David Johnstone had a convincing win against an opponent who was well dead but would not lie down. David had a Rook and six pawns against a Rook and three pawns.
Ian blundered which lead to a lost position and I recaptured with a bishop which lost when recapturing with the Rook would have won. It was really that clinical at the crucial point!!
David Ross took his first half point from his clashes with Ian McLachlan so he was pretty pleased. |

I had mixed feelings with the draw as I knew the match was then lost, but with 10moves to find in 4mins in an tight position a pawn down I felt there was a great chance of messing up especially as I could not see any positive play without eating up the clock. |

Thankfully the Lanarkshire League Captain does not concern himself with losing matches or individual games .
He only wants you all to enjoy your Chess, Love God and be Happy!!
It's only a Game and should be fun, even in defeat. |
