Good to see a few Cumbernauld players involved this year.
Ian Marks,
Jack Parkes,
George Thomson,
John Pearston.
I managed to scrape a win tonight against Young Daniel Thomas (1185) or there abouts.
It was a really tough game in which my extra pawn settled it.
The young fellow played very very well indeed.
I think John Pearston had a win against Lawerence Latta. I am not sure how Ian and Jack fared as I was knackered and desperate to get home to my kip. |

Well it's Sunday evening and I have just finished at G/mouth.
I finished on 2.5 from 5 which was a reasonable result considering that I was playing in the Major (u1650).
I have just been reminded how very difficult Chess can be.
One mistake and your punished, "oh cruel world".
I probably should have won my last game, I had been under the cosh and rode the storm to come out a pawn up but with a lot less time than my opponent so sheepishly opted for the "safe" option. (so what's new I hear you say)
I did manage to win one of the raffle prizes, I'm glad to say that all the "bottles" had already been taken so I had to settle for a Chess Book.
It is "Storming the Barricades" by an American Grandmaster called Larry Christiansen. Anyway I'm off to bed as it is extremely exhausting playing in a weekend congress. |
