Greetings everyone, Do any of you play Chess on the internet?
I found a reasonable site Via Lanark Chess Club Links page.
It's called Chess Lab and you can create your own table with your own time control etc. I have had a lot of good games on it.
I have asked Robert to add it to our links page.
Do any of you know any other good internet sites for chess?
I know that there is one called" Fly or Die".
Geoff chandler also mentiond one recently on the Chess Scotland site.
It's called the Red Pawn or something like that.
I checked it out and your opponent has three days to make a move????
Perhaps like the Chess Lab site you can alter time controls etc, but it looks a little more complicated.

would recommend FICS as a chess server. i use http://www.babaschess.net/ as a client to play the games there. it takes out a lot of the hassles and comes with Crafty for analysis as standard. All free. Small learning curve of course.

for small costs the heavyweight sites are ICC and http://www.playchess.com/

I'm delighted to say (unsubstansiated of course) that I held a 2010 player to a draw the other day as well as beating a 1950 player on my little internet site. The grades may be a little higher than Chess Scotland as I am currently 1568 my C/S grade is nearer 1500 I think.
