It,s great to see the Scots doing so well in the British Championships.
See Chess Scotland website for more details. The Last round Games were extremely exciting to watch on the live games service. Jacob,s last round game was excellent. However I think that he owes a great deal to A Kosten for his magnificent performance in the last round.
Check out A Kosten's last round game it was incredible.

Hi George,

Didn't see the games live but had a look at them this week end. I have signed up for the Marymass with a bye on the Friday evening and just going down Saturday and Sunday although I will go and visit my dad on the Saturday evening.

Jacob's last round game was a fantastic example of fighting chess with a great deal at stake (i.e. "bottle"). He was under the cosh coming out of the opening and I think would have been relieved with the perpetual which 23...Bxd5 offered (24.cxd5 Nxd5 25.Qxg7+ Kxg7 26.Be5+ Kf8 27.Bg7+ Kg8 28.Bxh6+ etc. Instead 28 Bf6+ Kf8 29 Bxe7+ Rxe7 leaves Black a P up with e3 probably going as well.) Flear, of course, would want to go for the win. 37 b4 is an awfully wild lunge which opens up his own K. I imagine Flear must have been getting quite dispirited by then.
